In recognition of Veterans Day 2024, the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program (EHVP) is honoring the extraordinary contributions of those who served in the United States Armed Forces and reaffirming its commitment to veterans’ mental health.
EHVP is one of only four academic medical centers in the United States supported by Wounded Warrior Project’s Warrior Care Network, providing post-9/11 veterans and their families with top-tier mental health care at no cost, regardless of the veteran’s discharge status, deployment history or length of service.
Since it launched in 2015, EHVP has treated those affected by invisible wounds such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), military sexual trauma, depression and anxiety. EHVP also leads research efforts to advance the understanding and treatment of mental health concerns affecting veterans, striving to improve the lives of those who have served our nation.
This month, EHVP leadership and veteran outreach coordinators are participating in numerous veterans’ observance events, actively engaging with veterans and communities to raise awareness about mental health resources available. These outreach efforts aim to educate veterans about the services provided by EHVP, help reduce stigma around mental health issues and connect veterans with vital support and resources.
Some of the outreach initiatives include:
- Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2: Third Annual We Care Veterans Fair
- Friday, Nov. 8: Atlanta Black Chambers Veteran Mental Health Symposium
- Saturday, Nov. 9: Atlanta Veterans Day Parade Veterans Expo
- Monday, Nov. 11: Emory University Veterans Day Observance
- Monday, Nov. 11: Emory Veterans Employee Network and Alumni Association’s “The Future of Leadership” presentation
- Monday, Nov. 11: New Black Wallstreet Market Veterans Day
- Saturday, Nov. 16: Saint Philip AME Church’s Second Annual Veterans Symposium
