Ceremony marks the beginning of Tibet Week activities

Tibet Week 2022 began Monday, with an opening ceremony at the Michael C. Carlos Museum that included monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery beginning the construction of the sand mandala. This year they will create the Mandala of Akshobhya Buddha, invoked during a crisis, pandemics and conflict to provide protection, healing and transformation.

The mandala construction will continue throughout the week. Anyone can watch the work or join other activities through Saturday.
