Dwight A. McBride, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, has been named president of The New School in New York City, effective spring 2020. 

“During his tenure at Emory, Provost McBride led the implementation of the One Emory strategic framework. Significant progress was made in advancing the university’s academic progress, particularly in recruiting and cultivating world-class faculty scholars,” says President Claire E. Sterk. “His vision for, and devotion to, an intellectual, inclusive community has enriched many lives. We will miss his warmth, and his unwavering passion for the life of the mind. He reminded us daily of the impact each individual can have in the service of humanity.”
