A tribute to the 13-year career of Emory University’s 19th president, James Wagner, “The Wise Heart” was first shown at a farewell gala on June 3, 2016.
Featuring interviews with trustees, administrators, faculty and students, as well as former President Jimmy Carter, U.S. Rep. John Lewis, and University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann, the video heralds Wagner’s achievements. These include the university’s first-ever strategic plan, a record-setting campaign, increased student and faculty quality, steady growth in research funding, and the transformation of the physical campus.
“You don’t have to lose your goodness to become great,” Wagner insists, as this portrait of Emory and its president shows.
