Emory News Center now mobile-friendly

Emory News Center at just got easier to read with an adaptive design for mobile devices.   

Whether accessed from a laptop, tablet or smartphone, news center content will now adjust to fit different vertical and horizontal views on those devices.  

A dramatic rise in the number of visits from readers on smartphones and tablets prompted Emory's Office of Communications & Marketing to optimize the reader's experience on all platforms.  

Mobile and tablet visits to the Emory News Center more than tripled when comparing the first half of 2012 to the first half of 2013. In addition, this year mobile and tablet traffic accounted for 21 percent of all visits.  

"Offering the Emory News Center as a responsive design is a really big deal because it provides a flexible, device-agnostic experience for people using the site," says Jan Gleason, executive director of University Marketing.  

"According to the latest report from the Pew Research Center, nearly two out of three adults use their tablet or phone to get news weekly and one of three do so every day — so it's just essential that we provide a good experience for people who reading our content on mobile devices."  

The mobile design was created in-house by the Emory Creative Group and implemented by Emory Web Design Group.
