Sandra B. Dunbar will be inducted into the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame by the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Dunbar is Charles Howard Candler professor of Cardiovascular Nursing and associate dean for academic advancement at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Dunbar's current research focuses on testing integrated self-care approaches for patients with heart failure and diabetes and testing interventions that improve outcomes for caregivers of heart failure patients. |  |
Timothy Holbrook will receive a Distinguished Service Medal from the Linn Inn Alliance this month, recognizing his leadership in intellectual property law. Holbrook is Emory Law's associate dean of faculty and law professor. The award recognizes Holbrook's leadership “in helping to bring the American Inn of Court experience to the intellectual property community,” said U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Richard Linn, the alliance's founder. Holbrook was the first president and a co-founder of the Atlanta Intellectual Property American Inn of Court in 2010. |  |
Julia Kjelgaard of Emory's Visual Arts Department has an artist book included in the "Ed Ruscha Books & Co." show that opened March 5 and runs through April 27 at the Gagosian Gallery in New York. The work is also being cataloged into the UCLA Library Artist Book Collection. |  |
Steffen Lösel and Phillip Reynolds have been named Henry Luce III Fellows in Theology for 2013-2014 by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and the Henry Luce Foundation. Lösel is associate professor in the practice of systematic theology. His project ferrets out the critical Catholicism in the main operatic works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Reynolds is Aquinas Professor of Historical Theology. Reynolds will explore Christian mystical theology in the western tradition. |  |
Nanette Wenger has been honored by the American College of Cardiology with its inaugural 2013 Distinguished Mentor Award. Wenger is professor of medicine in the division of cardiology at the School of Medicine. Wenger received the award in recognition of her dedication to mentorship and her role in shaping the careers of current and future leaders in cardiology. |  |
