Emory University announces recipients of the 2026 Max Cooper Prize in Immunology
Scientists Thomas Boehm, Klaus Rajewsky and Tadatsugu Taniguchi are the 2026 Max Cooper Prize in Immunology recipients. The award’s namesake is Max. D. Cooper, a renowned Emory immunologist whose work includes pioneering studies on the evolution of the immune system.

Connect, move and boost your well-being with Emory’s Social & Community Campaign, happening now through Oct. 31. Complete four engaging activities and participate in the Move Together Challenge, where you’ll track 630 minutes of exercise throughout October. Earn a well-being incentive by participating in the 16th annual Winship 5K
Celebrate community, hope and progress in the fight against cancer on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Winship 5K. The event brings together survivors, supporters and changemakers committed to advancing cancer research and care. By participating in the race or volunteering on race day, employees can earn a 2026 well-being incentive if enrolled in an Emory medical plan. Looking for a team to join? Annual benefits enrollment coming next month
Emory’s annual benefits enrollment will take place Oct. 19-Nov. 2, providing the opportunity to review your benefits and make any needed changes. Keep an eye out for more information about annual enrollment being mailed to your home address next month. Please review and update your mailing address and other personal information in Self-Service by Friday, Sept. 4, to ensure you receive these important materials.
Preparing for and earning certifications just got easier
The learning management system, Brainier, now supports a variety of professional certifications (SHRM-CP, PMP, CompTIA A+, and more). You can study for and gain certifications at your own pace with the help of courses from Open Sesame. Whether you’re interested in project management, process improvement, management or information technology, there is something for you.
Support the Emory Hardship Fund
Unexpected emergencies can create significant financial challenges for our Emory colleagues, and your generosity can make a meaningful difference. Consider donating to the Emory Hardship Fund through payroll deductions. All donated funds go directly to support faculty and staff experiencing unexpected financial hardship.
Workplace Culture and Belonging courses for September
The Workplace Culture and Belonging team is hosting three courses in September: Ensuring Fairness and Respect in the Workplace (Sept. 17), Psychological Safety (Sept. 23) and Introduction to Neurodiversity (Sept. 30). These courses are free and open to all university employees.
