Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital’s third annual Run for Mercy 5K raised more than $73,000 for patients in the community through the Emory Saint Joseph’s Fund of Excellence. This fund supports the overall mission and strategic direction of the hospital, as well as providing the funds needed to grow, deliver exceptional care and introduce new services.

Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul and Dunwoody Mayor Denis Shortal joined more than 500 participants at the March 23rd run, serving as the race grand marshals. The Sisters of Mercy were on hand to bless runners and walkers with holy water at the start and finish lines.

“The Sisters of Mercy started Saint Joseph’s Hospital in 1880 as a way to bring health care to our community,” says Heather Dexter, CEO of Emory Saint Joseph’s. “This race allows us to continue that mission to provide education, screenings, and health care to the community where it is needed most, thanks to the funds raised. We appreciate everyone’s participation, contributions and enthusiasm.”

A date has already been scheduled for next year’s Run for Mercy 5K. It is set for Saturday, March 21, 2020.
