Enjoy music traditions on Commencement Weekend

By Leslie King | Emory Report | May 7, 2014

Musical events for graduates, their families, alumni and the public are on for Commencement Weekend.

  • The annual Cherry Emerson Memorial Alumni Concert will be held Sunday, May 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Miller-Ward Alumni House. The concert will be hosted by Emerson Professor of Piano William Ransom and will feature graduates of Emory's department of music.

The concert is named in honor of Emory alumnus Cherry L. Emerson (1938 College),  (1939 Graduate School) and (1994 Honorary degree), a chemist and philanthropist, who was a generous supporter of the arts and sciences at Emory.

  • The Commencement Organ Recital will be Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Emerson Concert Hall of the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. Emory organist Timothy Albrecht will play light classics in this performance.
