Photos: King Week brings Emory together in service and community

The Emory community spent the first days of the new semester celebrating King Week and honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

Running from Jan. 13-24, the week featured opportunities for service, fellowship and worship across the university.

One of the first events of the week was a sandwich making party to support the Emory Community Fridge and Pantry, sponsored by the Emory University Staff Council. Oxford College joined in the giving spirit, holding its annual Day of Service on Jan. 19. Events included volunteering with the Salvation Army, cleaning up nature trails and more.

Other major events pictured include Emory Law’s keynote lecture from Jasmine Burton, the CEO, executive director and founder of Wish for WASH (an organization that addresses global water, sanitation and hygiene issues); the Oxford and Atlanta campus worship services; and the annual MLK Scholars Reception.
