The Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing has added four scholars to its faculty – mid-year appointments that reflect the school’s continued growth in enrollment and research.

Caroline Brantley, PhD, RD
Assistant Clinical Professor

Previous Position: Chief Nutrition Officer and Registered Dietitian, Fitomics; Clinical Instructor, Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing

Teaching/Research: Brantley teaches clinical nutrition for the School of Nursing and is involved in developing the Master of Clinical Nutrition program launching in Fall 2026. Her scholarship examines stress, coping, eating behaviors, and mindful eating to inform population-specific interventions.

Patricia Dykes, PhD, MA, RN, FAAN, FACMI, FIAHSI
Executive Director, Center for Data Science

Previous Position: Research Program Director, Center for Patient Safety, Research and Practice, Brigham and Women’s Hospital; Professor, Harvard Medical School

Teaching/Research: Dykes is a health services and implementation researcher focused on informatics-enabled clinical decision support and patient safety, applying mixed methods and pragmatic trials to improve effectiveness, adoption and sustainability of evidence-based care.

LeeAnna Spiva, PhD, RN, PLNC, FAAN
Associate Clinical Professor, Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing; Vice President, Academic Integration and Partnerships, Emory Healthcare

Previous Position: Assistant Vice President of Operations and Practice, Wellstar Health System

Teaching/Research: Spiva’s research examines the design, implementation and empirical evaluation of innovative nursing care delivery models, with particular attention to how organizational context, interprofessional practice dynamics, and implementation strategies interact to influence patient quality and safety, workforce outcomes, and health system performance. She also teaches adult and geriatric nursing for pre-licensure students at the School of Nursing.

 

Jacqueline B. Vo, PhD, RN, MPH, FAAN
Assistant Professor

Previous Position: Tenure Track Investigator, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health

Research/Teaching: Vo’s research focus includes examining the epidemiology of cancer treatment-related cardiovascular disease and subsequent malignancy risks among cancer survivors and health disparities among disaggregated Asian American and Pacific Islander populations. Her teaching focuses on public health nursing and epidemiology.
