Kimberly Maune has been appointed vice president for research administration, Senior Vice President for Research Adam Marcus announced.
Maune, mostly recently the executive associate dean for finance and administration and chief business officer in the Rollins School of Public Health, assumed the role leading the Office of Research Administration Jan. 21.
“Kimberly brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position, as well as a deep commitment to the research mission,” Marcus says. “I look forward to working with her to strengthen administrative operations in support of our ambitious goals for Emory research."
Maune succeeds Robert Nobles, who concluded his service to Emory this month after six years as vice president for research administration. During his tenure, Nobles advanced the university’s research strategy, oversaw the Research Administration portfolio and supported investigators’ administrative needs.
In her new role, Maune will oversee the research administration enterprise, including proposal development and submission, post-award management of grants and contracts, compliance oversight and financial stewardship of research funds. She will help advance Emory’s strategic priorities in research operations, infrastructure and service excellence, Marcus added.
Maune has more than two decades of experience in research administration. She began her career at the University of Cincinnati, where she held various leadership positions and supported the academic health center's departments and units. She joined Emory in 2016 to oversee the financial management, budgeting and operations of the Rollins School of Public Health.
A key leader on initiatives that modernize systems, improve research support and reduce administrative burden, Maune is known for her collaborative approach, her dedication to staff development and her ability to build cultures grounded in trust, transparency and service, Marcus noted.
