ATLANTA  Laura Fultz and Dana Haggas, both seasoned information technology (IT) experts and long-time Emory leaders, will align and advance Emory’s IT transformation through the appointment of two new roles. Fultz has been named the permanent chief digital information officer for Emory Healthcare and Haggas has been appointed the permanent chief information officer for Emory University, both effective immediately.

Both Fultz and Haggas have demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication and vision during their service in these roles on an interim basis since April 2025. Their guidance has been instrumental in navigating a pivotal period for both organizations and positioning each entity for prolonged success.

Across Emory Healthcare and Emory University, Fultz and Haggas will continue to collaborate closely to foster strong alignment in advancing digital and information strategies, modernizing technology infrastructure, enhancing data security and establishing a robust foundation for future innovation.

Fultz will continue to lead the IT experience across Emory Healthcare for both internal and external audiences, including patients and visitors. She is responsible for overseeing the system’s large applications and user experience teams — which include the Epic electronic medical record platform and other major applications, as well as implementing strategic IT initiatives and driving digital transformation forward.

“Laura’s dedication, strategic vision and collaborative leadership have been evident during her time as interim chief digital information officer for Emory Healthcare, and this appointment recognizes her outstanding contributions to our organization,” says Oscar Marroquin, MD, chief administrative and operating officer for Emory Healthcare. “Her expertise, skill and knowhow will help lead our digital team and health care system to the next level.”

Fultz joined Emory Healthcare in 2007 as an application solution analyst. From there, she moved into several leadership roles as manager and corporate director, followed by associate chief information officer and vice president of applications and digital experience for Emory Healthcare. Fultz holds a bachelor’s of business administration degree in both management information systems and marketing from the University of Georgia. She is also a certified health care chief information officer — a prestigious designation from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.

“I am thrilled to continue leading the Emory Healthcare digital team in a permanent role,” says Fultz. “Together with our talented team members and collaborators across the enterprise, we will continue to leverage the strong foundation we’ve built to deliver seamless patient and care team experiences and strengthen our data and technology platforms. I’m humbled and grateful for this opportunity to serve our patients, support our teams, and advance Emory’s mission of improving lives and providing hope through technology.”

Dana Haggas

Haggas will continue to lead the enterprise IT experience across Emory University, supporting research, teaching, learning and the student experience. She oversees academic, research and administrative technology platforms and teams, with a focus on secure, compliant research and user-centered digital services. In this role, she advances institution-wide IT initiatives and drives digital transformation that strengthens research excellence, student success and institutional trust.

“Dana has guided transformative initiatives that have advanced our technology capabilities and strengthened our digital infrastructure across Emory University,” says Christopher Augostini, executive vice president and enterprise chief operating officer for Emory University and Emory Healthcare. “This appointment recognizes Dana’s commitment to strategic leadership and operational excellence that will help propel Emory forward.”

Haggas joined Emory University in 1999 as an application developer. For more than two decades, she has served in various IT leadership positions at Emory, including manager of PeopleSoft applications, followed by senior director, interim deputy chief information officer and associate chief information officer in enterprise applications. Haggas received a bachelor’s of business administration degree in accounting from the University of Georgia.

“At Emory, we have an incredible opportunity to shape how technology strengthens discovery, learning and collaboration across our community,” says Haggas. “I’m honored to work alongside our talented teams as we create digital experiences that empower our faculty, researchers, students and staff to excel in their work and advance Emory’s mission.”

Together, Fultz and Haggas will collaboratively align and guide Emory’s IT strategy forward.
