Emory Global Engagement is seeking nominations for the International Awards, celebrating Emory community members’ achievements and dedication to global engagement. Submissions will be accepted until Monday, Nov. 24.

Emory Global Engagement (EGE) opened nominations for the 2025–26 International Awards opened on Sept. 10 and will accept submissions until Monday, Nov. 24, 2025. These awards honor the achievements of our distinguished students and alumni, as well as the dedication of our faculty and staff, to furthering Emory’s global engagement.

Additionally, EGE will launch a new Global Student Leadership Award this year.

EGE is seeking nominations for the following awards:

Faculty award

The Marion V. Creekmore Award is given to an Emory faculty member who excels in the advancement of the university’s commitment to internationalization. The award honors the work of Marion V. Creekmore, who served as Emory University's inaugural vice provost for international affairs and first director of The Claus M. Halle Institute for Global Research and Learning.

Staff award

The International Outreach Award was created in 2012 to recognize staff who have made significant contributions to Emory’s internationalization through the programs, schools and units in which they serve, and who also extend Emory's reputation by contributing their expertise to international professional networks in their respective fields of research, teaching and higher education.

Alumni award

The Sheth Distinguished Alumni Award, established by a generous gift from Madhu and Jagdish Sheth, Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Marketing, recognizes Emory University’s alumni who have distinguished themselves in service to universities, governments, private sector firms and/or non-governmental organizations.

Student award

This year, EGE is proud to introduce a new award: the Global Student Leadership Award. This award recognizes student leaders who have played a vital role in promoting global and cross-cultural understanding through their involvement in campus and community organizations and programs.

Selection criteria include:

  • Demonstrated leadership in advancing international awareness and cross-cultural engagement
  • Organizational involvement in global, multicultural or intercultural student programs or initiatives
  • Impact on campus climate or community through events, mentorship or advocacy
  • Collaboration and inclusivity in fostering environments that support global perspectives

Emory faculty and staff are encouraged to submit nominations for the student award and all other International Awards.

Award recipients are selected by a committee appointed by the Vice Provost for Emory Global Engagement. The winners will be invited to receive their awards at a dedicated ceremony in spring 2026 on Emory’s Atlanta campus.

The 2024 International Awards Ceremony, held when Emory Global Engagement was named the Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives, honored three extraordinary individuals (shown above) whose work exemplifies Emory’s global values.

Solveig Argeseanu Cunningham (left), professor of global health at the Rollins School of Public Health, received the Marion V. Creekmore Award for Internationalization. Her research on chronic disease and early life health spans continents and has influenced both academic and public policy conversations.

Faizat Badmus-Busari 20L, (center), legal scholar and head of programs for the Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) Network, was awarded the Sheth Distinguished Alumni Award. Her advocacy for women’s rights and social justice continues to shape policy and empower communities across East Africa.

The Venerable Priya Rakkhit Sraman (right), Emory’s Buddhist chaplain, received the International Outreach Award. His work in spiritual care, interfaith engagement and mindfulness programming has enriched the campus experience and fostered inclusive spaces for reflection and connection.
