Traffic alert: Project to replace SR 42/Briarcliff Road bridge over South Fork Peachtree Creek

The Georgia Department of Transportation will begin activities to replace the SR 42/Briarcliff Road bridge over South Fork Peachtree Creek near campus this week. The new bridge will feature wider travel lanes in each direction, as well as bike lanes and sidewalks.

Weather and on-site conditions permitting, crews will begin grading the area and clearing vegetation along the bridge approaches this week, clearing areas that restrict access to utility lines. Single lane closures will likely be required to provide safety for crews and drivers during these activities.

Closures are allowed daily 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and overnight 7 p.m.-6 a.m. Exact dates may change due to weather or other extenuating factors. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution and reduce travel speeds while traveling through work zones.
