In her new position with the GHA, Dexter will serve as an at-large trustee, where her duties will include working with the board to develop strategies for GHA hospital members, advocating for the highest quality care for patients and supporting adequate reimbursement for hospitals.

At Emory Healthcare, Dexter serves as president of the Regional Hospital Division, which includes oversight of Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Emory Decatur Hospital, Emory Hillandale Hospital and Emory Long-Term Acute Care Hospital. She also serves as the executive sponsor of Emory’s heart and vascular services, as well as imaging and laboratory services.
In her roles at Emory Healthcare, Dexter provides strategic, coordinated oversight for the hospitals, focusing on aligning care and services while sharing best practices across facilities. Before serving in her current role, she held a variety of leadership positions at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, including chief executive officer, chief operating officer, and vice president of surgical services, business development and strategic planning.

Dexter earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Vanderbilt University. She received a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also completed an intensive executive course in Managing Healthcare Delivery at Harvard Business School. She is a member of the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board in Region 4.
