Staff Fest returns to the Quad on Friday, May 16, to thank Emory University employees for their hard work throughout the academic year. Held each year on the Friday after Commencement, Staff Fest activities take place from 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m. President Gregory L. Fenves will address the crowd at noon.

While some activities like the fun run/walk had to be removed this year due to budget constraints, the event will still be packed with plenty of fun.

The friendly-but-fierce volleyball tournament will kick off at 11 a.m. on the Quad. Staff can also take on colleagues in cornhole, mini golf, soccer darts and giant games of Jenga, checkers and Connect Four. They can also enjoy the DJ and dancing and participate in organized activities such as the hula contest and relay races.

“We were unable to offer T-shirts this year,” explains Melissa Ragan, associate director of communications and engagement and Staff Fest coordinator, “but we hope that employees will wear a favorite Staff Fest T-shirt from a previous year, or any Emory T-shirt that they love.”

A free, catered lunch by Williamson Bros. Bar-B-Q starts at 11:30 a.m. and continues while quantities last. The menu includes chopped chicken, pulled pork and black bean burgers with sides of baked beans (no pork), potato salad and coleslaw. There will also be cookies for a sweet treat and popcorn throughout the Quad.

Please note that Staff Fest is for current Emory University staff, faculty and retirees only. Family members or non-university employees are not able to be accommodated.

Staff Fest partners with the Emory Office of Sustainability Initiatives to make this event as sustainable as possible. All attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their own water bottle to the event. Water refill stations are available in buildings surrounding the Quad.

Special thanks to Coca-Cola for their generous donation of Coca-Cola products, and to the many volunteers across campus who help make Staff Fest happen.
