More than 800 Emory students, faculty, staff and community members embarked on a journey around the world during the university’s annual Global Festival this spring, exploring diverse cultures through engaging performances, interactive cultural booths, trivia challenges and food trucks. Attendees also enjoyed a K-pop band, an Afro-Peruvian dance, acoustic songs from Brazil, traditional Indian dance and more.

The event was hosted by International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and the International Student Leadership and Advocacy Board.

Camila Quinde, an MPH student from Ecuador who is studying global health, represented La Alianza Latinx at a culture booth.

“This allowed us to show that there’s always something new to learn about other cultures, and at the same time, it was a pleasant surprise to see how many people already knew about ours,” said  Quinde. “It was a space for genuine exchange, sparking curiosity, connection and pride in our roots.”

Shinn Ko, assistant vice provost at ISSS, says the festival helps foster cross-cultural understanding within the Emory community. “The Global Festival serves as a vibrant showcase of the richness of our international student and scholar community, allowing us to celebrate and appreciate our collective diversity.”

Generous support of co-sponsors — including Belonging and Community Justice, the Student Government Association and the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing — made the 2025 Global Festival’s success possible.
