Campus Life celebrates student leaders across Emory

Emory recently celebrated the contributions of student leaders and their advisors who help student organizations thrive. The Student Organization Appreciation BBQ was held on Wednesday, April 16, on McDonough Plaza and allowed graduating seniors to pick up their graduation cords.

The celebration continued with the Student Organization Achievement and Recognition (SOAR) Awards, which recognized key players in organizational and leadership development across campus for their outstanding achievements and service. 

The event featured performances from various Emory a cappella and dance groups. SOAR Award recipients included: 

  • Undergraduate Student Organization of the Year: Latinx Student Organization
  • Graduate Student Organization of the Year: Emory Criminal Law Society
  • Rising Star of the Year: Aspiring Medical Science Liaisons at Emory
  • Program of the Year — Emory Community: Asian Night Market (Chines Undergraduate Student Organization)
  • Program of the Year — Off-campus: Oktoberfest (Uplifting Marginalized Mothers and Individuals)
  • Program of the Year — Internal: Political Education Workshops (Emory Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Activists) 
  • Undergraduate Student Leader of the Year: Anisha Johnson (Plastic Free Emory)
  • Graduate Student Leader of the Year: Pooja Bhatt (Goizueta Business Association)
  • Advisor of the Year: Heather Mann (Indian Cultural Association)
  • Heart of Emory Award
    • Graduate Recipients: Elizabeth Kufour, Daiana Takashima, Yamile Rodriguez
