Lace up your sneakers and join National Start Walking Day on Wednesday, April 2, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Emory’s Atlanta campus Quad.

Healthy Emory, in partnership with the Center for Student Wellbeing, invites faculty, staff and students to take a break, enjoy the outdoors and get moving with some fun activities.

National Start Walking Day, recognized by the American Heart Association, highlights the importance of physical activity for heart health. Walking just 30 minutes a day can help lower blood pressure, reduce stress, boost moods and improve overall well-being. It’s an easy and effective way to stay active and support health, especially during a busy semester.

This event will feature lawn games, yoga sessions, stretching and other activities to keep participants moving. Plus, those who complete at least one lap around the Quad will be rewarded with a free snow cone.

It’s the perfect way to celebrate National Start Walking Day and kick off Healthy Emory’s Physical Activity Campaign, which begins April 1. The program encourages all employees to take simple but impactful steps toward building healthier habits. It will be followed by the Move More Challenge, which kicks off May 1 and offers employees an opportunity to stay motivated and track progress throughout the month with exciting rewards and incentives.
