Emory University Senate is soliciting applications for multiple standing committees

The University Senate, comprised of faculty, staff and students from across all nine of Emory’s schools, is an essential component of university governance.

Applications are open until Friday, April 12, for several standing committees of the University Senate:

  • Athletics and Recreation
  • Campus Development
  • Campus Life
  • Environment
  • Fringe Benefits
  • Governance
  • Honorary Degrees
  • Library Policy
  • Open Expression
  • Prevention of Sexual Violence
  • Transportation and Parking

Each committee addresses issues related to specific topics and reports back before the full University Senate. Membership on these committees is not limited to elected or appointed members of the Senate.

Committee members serve one-year terms. Visit the University Senate’s website to learn more about the work of standing committees and to find related contacts and information.

Those interested in serving on a committee (or committees) should upload a short statement of interest and a CV by Friday, April 12.

Responsibilities of University Senate members include:

  • Considering and making recommendations regarding all matters of general interest at the university level
  • Reviewing all new policies and changes to existing ones
  • Submitting recommendations to Emory University’s President on any matter affecting the interests of the organization
  • Making recommendations regarding honorary degree recipients
