Testing kiosks coming to Emory’s Atlanta and Oxford campuses as COVID-19 screening program sunsets

Emory University’s COVID-19 asymptomatic screening program that has served more than 180,000 participants since July 2020 will officially sunset at the end of this semester. The last day to screen on Emory’s Atlanta campus will be Wednesday, Dec. 21; Tuesday, Dec. 20, will be the last day to screen on the Oxford campus.

As the asymptomatic screening program ends, campus members can access new community testing options available at Emory’s campuses.

“Emory developed a large testing infrastructure, built around our asymptomatic screening program, to help support our COVID-19 response efforts and supplement limited community resources,” says Amir St. Clair, chief resilience officer, Emory University. “Now, as part of our transition to the next phase of our response, and given robust testing options now in place across our communities, we are able to sunset our screening program and direct campus members to these new community health resources.”

Emory has partnered with DeKalb County to offer on-campus spaces for three Test-and-Go kiosks, which are available to all community members. Each kiosk can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can hold up to 700 COVID-19 PCR tests. Registration requires participants to enter insurance information but does not prevent anyone from access should they be uninsured.

By mid-December, the following on-campus locations will host Test-and-Go kiosks:

  • Emory Point: Surface parking lot next to the CVS on Clifton Road
  • Emory Bookstore: Oxford Road in front of the Emory Barnes & Noble bookstore
  • Oxford College: Whatcoat Street Building (Oxford mail center)

Participants must register to use the kiosks. This can be done in advance by accessing https://register.testandgo.com/ or by following the QR code prompts onsite. The kiosks dispense a COVID-19 test kit that includes a nasal swab and instructions on collecting the specimen. The specimens are picked up daily and sent to an accredited lab for PCR testing, and results normally take 24-48 hours to receive. Complete video instructions on how to use the new Test-and-Go kiosks can be found here.

Emory community members with COVID-19 symptoms can also participate in the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) program. RADx continues to host a testing location in Executive Park in an effort to expand access to COVID-19 tests that are fast and accurate. COVID-19 tests through RADx are free, and participants receive gift cards for their time. RADx participants must be symptomatic and should schedule their appointments in advance.

Testing options and guidelines for students, faculty and staff experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, along with up-to-date resources, can be found on Emory Forward’s testing page.
