Tedesco returns to Emory as special advisor to the provost

Lisa A. Tedesco, dean emerita, vice provost emerita and professor in the Rollins School of Public Health, is returning to Emory this fall to take up the role of special advisor to Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Ravi V. Bellamkonda. Tedesco will return to campus effective Sept. 1, 2022, following a sabbatical that began at the end of the 2020-21 academic year, during which she served as dean-in-residence at the Council of Graduate Schools.

In her new position, Tedesco will work with Interim Senior Vice Provost Lanny Liebeskind to develop and support a number of initiatives, including a Provost’s Fellows program, intended to cultivate and nourish Emory’s academic leadership culture.

Prior to her sabbatical, Tedesco served as dean of the Laney Graduate School and vice provost for academic affairsgraduate studies, positions now held by Kimberly Jacob Arriola.

A Thomas Jefferson Award winner, Tedesco is known for her transformational work within Laney Graduate School. Guided by best practices and metrics for program evaluation and accountability, Tedesco made graduate student support, transparency in student academic requirements and inclusion her highest priorities. In addition to leading the graduate school, Tedesco became a key member of the university’s academic continuity group tasked with leading academic operations during COVID-19.
