Science Gallery Atlanta at Emory University is seeking students to serve as student mediators in the upcoming exhibition “HOOKED: When Want Becomes Need,” opening in early 2022.
Students mediators will help leverage art and science to address societal challenges such as addiction, social justice and climate impact. Mediators are on the exhibition floor at all times, interacting with visitors and engaging them in conversations. Applicants should have a proven interest in science, art, design or technology, as well as excellent verbal communication skills and a willingness to strike up a conversation with a perfect stranger.
The mediator team is a diverse group of people, each bringing his or her unique experiences, interests, skills and talents to the fore. Student mediators will develop professional skills, interact with world-class researchers and artists and receive mentorship from Science Gallery Atlanta staff and peer mediators.
This is a paid position and Science Gallery is looking for creative and highly motivated students from all backgrounds and fields of study. Young adults ages 15-25 can apply.
Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Interviews will begin in December, so students are encouraged to apply early (access the application here). Accepted applicants will begin training in January of 2022.
Emory University joined Science Gallery International’s network in January 2020.
