The Mouse Transgenic and Gene Targeting Core is now offering cryoservices for rat lines. Cryoservices can help protect valuable rat strains and reduce costs associated with maintaining live animal colonies. Two types of cryoservices are currently available:
Sperm cryopreservation: Requires two adult males, preferably proven breeders. $1420 per line includes 20 straws with free, long-term storage.
Embryo cryopreservation: Requires one adult male and five to 10 females at five to 14 weeks of age. $2,270 per line includes free, long-term storage. The number of cryopreserved embryos will depend on the number of the submitted females, their age, and the animals' genotype used for the procedure.
Cryopreserved samples are split between campus storage facilities on distinct power grids. For more information, email MouseCore@emory.edu or visit our website.
