Emory’s annual Pride Awards and Women of Excellence Awards are two highlights each March, when the campus community recognizes accomplishments made on behalf of both groups.
The first Pride Awards celebration was held on March 2, 1993, to commemorate the protest and march on campus that began Emory’s institutional commitment toward access and equity for LGBTQA people. Each year, individuals are recognized for the exceptional work they do on behalf of LGBTQA equality. Students also are awarded scholarships to acknowledge their work within the community, and graduating seniors and alumni are honored during a Lavender Graduation ceremony.
The Women of Excellence Awards celebrate women who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to issues affecting women at Emory and in the larger community. The awards night on March 5 also celebrated 50 women identified as “Graduating Women of Excellence” with a toast and commemorative pin. The students were honored for displaying leadership, inclusivity and a commitment to making Emory a better place for all.
