Sustainable Food Fair returns Oct. 8

The entire Emory community is invited to the annual Sustainable Food Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

This is the fourteenth year for the student-run event, which will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Asbury Circle. The fair takes places alongside the weekly Farmers Market, in partnership with the Office of Sustainability Initiatives and Emory Dining.

Attendees can learn about sustainable food practices and sample tasty treats during the fair. They also can discuss how to buy local food.

“Through the Sustainable Food Fair, we’re looking to have informative and fun discussions about sustainable practices and give visitors an insider’s look into the Atlanta food scene and Emory Dining experience,” says Jane Song, a senior majoring in English and creative writing, with a minor in sustainability. She serves as publicity coordinator for this year’s fair. “It’s a good opportunity to pick up some free treats and also, obviously, knowledge.”

Undergraduates met in September to develop the event. They earn one credit for the course, which is cross-listed in anthropology and interdisciplinary studies.
