With a shared commitment to improved maintenance of athletes’ health, Emory Healthcare and the Atlanta Dream have announced an expansion of their current partnership with a designation of Emory as the Official Team Healthcare and Official Sports Medicine Provider.
The partnership provides the Atlanta Dream with comprehensive and seamless state-of-the-art medical care. This includes access to Emory’s world class Sports Medicine, Orthopaedics, and Spine Center physicians and all of Emory Healthcare. The partnership also provides the Dream access to Emory’s sports science research and performance measurement expertise at the new Emory Sports Medicine Complex in Brookhaven.
“We are excited to continue to build on our relationship with Emory Healthcare,” Atlanta Dream president Theresa Wenzel says. “As we embark on our second decade in Atlanta and have a new head coach leading the franchise, we are thrilled to be able to offer the best possible health care to our players.”
“We are honored to be chosen to care for these elite athletes and look forward to helping them stay healthy and maximize their playing careers while working with the Atlanta Dream organization to engage the community serving as role models for the next generation,” says Scott D. Boden, MD, director of Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center and vice president of Business Innovation for Emory Healthcare.
As part of the partnership, Emory Healthcare will also provide the Dream with a team doctor and full-time athletic trainer. Emory Healthcare and Emory University’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center is one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers. The Atlanta Dream, which enters its 11th season in 2018, will play its home games in McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus. Atlanta has qualified for the playoffs seven times, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
