Volunteers help others with Emory Cares at Oxford
Students gather in the Oxford student center to pack boxes for Emory Cares.

Whether packing shoeboxes with donated treats for children in foster care or sprucing up the Oxford Nature Trail, volunteers for Emory Cares at Oxford Service Day invested in their community and campus.

Nearly 200 volunteers impacted their community for Emory Cares at Oxford on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Oxford College students, alumni, faculty, staff, family members, and friends gathered for two on-campus events. Approximately 140 volunteers packed shoeboxes to help the Newton County Foster Care program. Volunteers worked side by side packing toiletries, school supplies, and small gifts into 201 shoeboxes for children and youth in foster care. They also filled 10 holiday stockings with toiletries and gifts for U.S. veterans.

In addition to the foster care support, volunteers with Oxford Athletics and the Center for Healthful Living helped clear Oxford’s Nature Trail. Oxford's Development and Alumni Relations Office partnered with Oxford’s Alumni Board and Volunteer Oxford to sponsor this annual volunteer service project day.
