The demolition of the Dobbs University Center (DUC) brought the end of DUC Day celebrations, but the fun returned Friday, Sept. 22, with "Run AMUC" outside of the Alumni Memorial University Center (AMUC).

Hosted by the University Center Board, the event in Asbury Circle featured carnival games, a "Wizzer" ride, face painting, cotton candy and more. 

The DUC was razed over the summer to make way for the construction of Emory's new Campus Life Center (CLC), which is slated to open around summer 2019. The new facility will feature a restaurant with approximately 800 seats, a nearly 1,600-seat multipurpose room, student meeting spaces and a second-floor recreation lounge, complete with billiards, air hockey and video games.

When the DUC opened in 1986, it enclosed the end of the AMUC, built in 1950 to honor campus community members lost at war. With the DUC now gone, the AMUC is once again a free-standing building, serving as the home for a number of campus offices and organizations formerly housed in the DUC.

Space between the AMUC and the new CLC will eventually be home to a large, open-air courtyard, with trees, grass and casual outdoor seating.
