In celebration of National Nurses Week, Emory Saint Joseph's introduces nurse navigator Paige Watt.
How long have you worked at Emory Saint Joseph'?
Since March 2015.
What is your current role?
I am the second oncology nurse navigator for GI, GU and prostate cancer. I completed my BSN eight years ago, as my fourth degree. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in behavioral health, as well as an undergrad as a Nationally Certified Litigation Paralegal, specializing in insurance defense and large medical malpractice lawsuits.
What is your nursing experience?
I have worked in both oncology and as a trauma nurse. For the past five years, I worked as a hospice nurse and nurse liaison for the in patient units at both Emory Midtown and Emory University Hospitals, respectfully.
What are some of your personal experiences in nursing?
I have many great stories of providing peace and comfort during critical times and at the end of life. I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself and have a year and a half clean thus far. My personal experiences of having navigated through my own oncology journey, led me to the role of a navigator. My hope is that I provide compassionate, blessings and insight to those going through similar experiences.
