Some lanes of Clifton Road will be closed intermittently through late May for road improvements related to the new Emory Point Phase II development. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained throughout the project to minimize traffic congestion.
Roadwork will generally take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. At Emory’s request, all lanes of Clifton Road will be open May 8-11 to accommodate traffic related to Commencement events.
Pedestrian traffic will be clearly designated and maintained during construction. Traffic barriers and flaggers will be used as necessary to safely direct vehicle traffic around lane closures.
Tasks to be completed along Clifton Road include installation of storm piping, median curbs and ADA ramps, as well as asphalt paving and striping, finalization of traffic signals and median landscaping.
Emory Point is a mixed-use development offering restaurants, retail shops and apartments. Phase II, which will feature an Earth Fare organic and natural foods grocery store, is currently under construction. It is slated to open in early July.
