Shah-Kazemi to address spirituality, universality in Islam

Fundamental questions about Islam will be the topic of an April 2 lecture sponsored by the Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies (MESAS).

Reza Shah-Kazemi, research fellow in the department of academic research and publications for the Institute of Ismaili Studies, will present “From Tolerance to Reverence: Spirituality and Universality in Islam” at 5 p.m. in room 207 of Emory’s White Hall.

“Through posing a series of fundamental questions about the religion of Islam, and answering them by means of key Qur'anic verses, together with sayings of the Holy Prophet, this presentation illustrates the extent to which an all-embracing vision of compassionate universality is inherent to the spiritual essence of Islam,” MESAS notes in an announcement about the lecture.

The event is co-sponsored by the Aga Khan Council for the Southeastern United States.
