William A. Bornstein, MD, PhD, chief quality and medical officer for Emory Healthcare, was invited to testify before the United States Senate Committee on Finance on Tuesday, July 15, at a hearing titled “Chronic Illness: Addressing Patients’ Unmet Needs.”

Senator Ron Wyden (D-OH) chairs the Finance Committee, and Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) is co-chair.

Also presenting testimony at the hearing were Stephanie Dempsey, a patient from Blairsville, Georgia; Mary Margaret Lehmann, a caregiver from Minneapolis, Minnesota; Cheryl DeMars, president and CEO, The Alliance, Fitchburg, Wisconsin; and Chet Burrell, president and CEO, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Baltimore, Maryland.
