Date changed for summer childcare expo

"Come Experience Summer" is the theme for Emory's 5th Annual Camp & Learning Expo 2014 to be held on the new date of Thursday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  on the 4th Floor Auxiliary Court of Woodruff P.E. Center.

The date was changed due to schedule disruptions from expected inclement weather.

The annual event offers summer camp and learning programs in the Atlanta metro area and is designed for parents to get a head start on planning summer childcare and opportunities and activities.

Expo 2014 will be similar to last year’s event, says Audrey Adelson, work-life and family programs consultant. Nearly 100 summer camps and academic programs for children aged 5-17 will be represented with staff onsite  to answer questions.  Some programs will be offering discounts. Georgia Learning Resource Systems will be at the expo again this year with their summer directory for families with children with special needs.

Resources including programs to teach teens to drive and prepare for college admissions tests will also be offered. Representatives from area summer programs will be onsite

BrownRichards & Associates, consultants to Emory WorkLife, will be onsite completing free dependent care referrals in effort to help parents find additional summer programming and other types of dependent care options that will not be available at the expo.

The WorkLife Resource Center continues its tradition of raffling off prizes to attendees of the event. All those hoping to win a raffle prize must sign in at the event. To qualify for a grand prize you must be either an Emory employee or a Laney Graduate School student. Light snacks and refreshments will also be available for guests. Admission is free.

This event is open to employees and family members of Emory University, Emory Healthcare, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

While registration is not required to attend, it helps WorkLife to prepare for the event.
