Investigation of assaults continues

Emory Police released a composite sketch of the suspect Feb. 15. He is described as a white male, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, medium build and about 50 years old.

Emory Police and the DeKalb County Police Department are working together to investigate three open attempted sexual assault cases that occurred in DeKalb County off campus that are possibly connected to the rape that occurred on campus earlier this month.

Emory Police Chief Craig Watson says the department appreciates the information it has received from the Emory community and general public in response to the public safety notice, which was issued to the campus immediately after the incident took place, and after the composite sketch of the suspect was sent to local media a few days later. Emory Police continue to actively investigate the on-campus incident, which occurred near Dowman Drive Feb. 11.

"Our primary focus right now is on the safety and security of our community. We can only accomplish our goal by working in partnership with our students, faculty and staff, and we appreciate their help and cooperation," Watson says.

While actively pursuing this investigation, Emory Police continue to operate more patrols and increase their visibility around campus, with several officers taking on additional hours and shifts. "We encourage members of our community to remain vigilant, to continue be aware of their surroundings and look out for one another for the safety of our community," Watson says.

Emory and DeKalb police encourage anyone with information about the suspect or cases to contact Emory Police at 404-727-6111 or the DeKalb County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit at 770-724-6111.
