Provost hosts 'In Dialogue' sessions for faculty

What do Emory faculty value? What are their aspirations? Provost Claire Sterk would like to know.

That's why she's inviting faculty from throughout Emory to have their say in a yearlong series that launches this fall. "In Dialogue: Faculty Conversations with the Provost" will give participants a chance to bend the provost's ear about what is on their minds. What are their hopes and dreams? What support do they need at different stages of their careers? What are their innovative ideas to push the boundaries of excellence at Emory?

"Faculty form the core of the university," Sterk says. "They are the driving force behind teaching, learning and scholarship at Emory. I'd like to draw on this rich intellectual community to help shape our future. In short, I'd like to hear what they have to say."

This fall, faculty may join the provost tableside over lunch or tapas at one of 10 small group sessions. Sterk envisions the table talk will allow ideas to emerge about how Emory can grow as a community and university. "I hope these dialogues lead to action items," she says. "Let's see what things the faculty are noticing. Let's see what we can do to build on those ideas."
