New Visa Corporate Cards to aid business travel

A year-long review of Emory's travel and expense practices has yielded a major change — next year, a new Visa Corporate Card will be introduced as the preferred payment method for travel-related expenses.

The Visa Corporate Card, which will be available Feb. 14, replaces the previous American Express card and offers distinct benefits to faculty and staff, including:

  • Receipts under $75 are no longer required with the corporate card, except for airfare, hotel or rental car.

  • Expense reports can be submitted electronically within minutes.

  • No currency conversion documentation is required.

  • No credit check is required — Emory vouches for you.

  • Cardholders will not be out-of-pocket; pre-trip expenses can be reimbursed prior to trips.

  • No more missing and lost receipt affidavits.

The card change is the result of a year-long effort by Emory's Office of Business Practice Improvement (BPI) to analyze and improve the University's travel and expense functions.

Beginning in January and February, brown bag lunch information sessions about how to use the new cards will be offered Wednesdays at noon in the Dobbs University Center. Instructor-led training and online training videos will also be available.
