Former Ambassador to the United Nations Andrew Young will deliver this year's Hamilton E. Holmes, M.D., Memorial Lecture, on Wednesday, March 21, at 5 p.m.
This seventh annual lecture will be held in the James B. Williams Medical Education Building of the School of Medicine, followed by a reception. The event is free and open to the public.
"The address will emphasize the importance of Dr. Holmes' commitment to social justice and educational opportunities for all," says Robert Lee, associate dean and director of multicultural medical student affairs.
"Through the years, Emory University School of Medicine has contributed enormously to the training of a more diverse group of medical students, residents, fellows and increased the number of faculty from under-represented racial and ethnic groups, because of the courage of Hamilton E. Holmes," Lee continues. "His willingness to be the vanguard African American member of the Class of 1967 serves as an inspiration to others who have come behind him."
