Erica Dunbar, Emory professor of African American studies, ensures historical accuracy on HBO’s “The Gilded Age” as the show’s co-executive producer and lead historical consultant. The show is nominated for eight Emmy Awards, including “Outstanding Drama Series.” Tune in Monday to watch the awards.

Exploring history and justice in Montgomery

Culture Shock event celebrates Emory community’s talent and cultures
A record number of students attended Culture Shock this year on McDonough Field. The tradition welcomes students to fall semester with opportunities to connect and share food, fun and entertainment while showcasing the university community’s rich cultural variety.
Nepal Flooding: Community Gathering for Support and Response
Wednesday, Sept. 9, Noon, Cannon Chapel
In the wake of the devastating disaster in Nepal, the Emory community is invited to gather in remembrance of those who have lost their lives, in solidarity with all who are grieving, and in support of those affected by displacement and widespread devastation.
There will be time for reflection, prayer, chanting and community. Refreshments will follow, and information about relief-fund initiatives and opportunities to support recovery efforts will also be shared. Presented with the support of the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life, CAPS, FSAP, Emory Buddhist Club, Hindu Students Association, Emory-Tibet Science Initiative and ISSS.
