Share your thoughts on bringing light rail service to the Clifton corridor

Would introducing MARTA light-rail service to the Clifton corridor impact your job, campus commute or access to health care services? If so, now’s the time to speak up.

The Emory community is invited to weigh in on the Clifton Corridor Transit Initiative (CCTI), MARTA’s proposed light rail line that would link the Lindbergh and Avondale stations and open direct service to one of Atlanta’s biggest job centers, including Emory University, Emory Hospital, the Centers for Disease Control, Children’s Healthcare, and Veteran’s Administration Hospital.

The light-rail proposal is among dozens of projects outlined in the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority’s (ATL) Regional Transit Plan, which is slated for approval on Dec. 13, says Betty Willis, senior associate vice president of government and community affairs at Emory and executive director of the Clifton Community Partnership.

By identifying existing and future transit priorities, the regional transit plan offers a critical blueprint for pinpointing strategic investments across the 13-county metro-Atlanta region. It also offers a green light for projects to begin moving forward in seeking federal transportation funds, Willis says.

To share comments about the regional transit plan, including expanded light rail service to the Clifton corridor, email ARTPcomments@atltransit.ga.gov. The deadline for feedback is Wednesday, Dec. 11.
