Emory University’s Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement (AAE) has appointed Anya Reid as assistant vice president for advancement, graduate schools and units. She will provide leadership and strategic direction for fundraising, alumni and constituent engagement efforts for the Rollins School of Public Health, School of Law, Candler School of Theology, School of Medicine, James T. Laney School of Graduate Studies, Global Health Institute, and Center for Ethics. Her appointment is effective Aug. 19, 2019.
Reid joins Emory with 14 years of development experience, most recently as executive director of development and external relations at North Carolina State University (NCSU) Poole College of Management. There she led the development and execution of college campaign goals in the $1.6B Capital Campaign for NCSU, launched in 2016. The goal of $65M was met by April 2018, currently 91 percent to a revised $76M goal.
Reid re-organized the college development team, overhauled the college’s advisory board to better engage volunteers and meet the needs of the college, and secured the first named deanship at NCSU for $4M—the second largest gift in Poole College’s history. She exceeded the annual College fundraising goals each year, raising more than $32M since 2012. Reid also was a member of the university-wide steering committee for a five-year advancement strategic roadmap process. In addition, she served as the interim associate vice chancellor for university development from 2017 to 2018.
Prior to her tenure at North Carolina State University, Reid served in multiple development roles at University of California, Davis Graduate School of Management. She also held various management and marketing positions in California, Singapore, Hong Kong and Atlanta.
Reid holds a Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Davis Graduate School of Management.
She brings proven leadership and management experience to AAE and Emory, along with an entrepreneurial spirit, a record of accomplishment as a frontline fundraiser and manager, and a deep appreciation for establishing strong relationships with colleagues and campus leaders.
