Nobel laureate macroeconomist Christopher Sims to speak at Emory

Nobel laureate Christopher Sims, one of the world’s most eminent macroeconomists, will deliver the Economics Department’s 2019 Kafoglis Nobel Laureate Lecture, titled “How to Worry about Government Debt?” at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, at White Hall, room 208.

A question-and-answer session will follow Sims’ talk, which is free and open to the public.

Sims is the John J.F. Sherrerd University Professor of Economics at Princeton University. In 2011, he and Thomas J. Sargent were awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences “for their empirical research on cause and effect in the macroeconomy.”

Sims also visited Emory in 2012, when he delivered a public lecture on monetary policy and discussed his research with faculty and students.
