Emory professor named to Atlanta Business Chronicle's 40 Under 40 class for 2018

Carla J. Berg, associate professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Health Education at Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health and associate director for Population Sciences at Winship Cancer Institute has been selected to the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2018 class of 40 Under 40.

The award honors Atlanta leaders across all industries who have made significant career achievements and demonstrated social and community responsibility. Berg was recognized at the 40 Under 40 Awards event at the Fox Theatre, in Atlanta.

“Dr. Berg is an exceptional public health leader who is extremely deserving of this tremendous honor,” says James Curran, MD,MPH who is the James W. Curran dean of Public Health at the Rollins School of Public Health. “Her contributions and commitment to research in tobacco control, cancer prevention, and treatment have made a noteworthy impact in the field.”

Berg’s research primarily focuses on factors related to substance use, particularly tobacco and marijuana, in addition to macro-level factors such as policy and marketing; and interpersonal and individual psychological and biological factors. She has also conducted extensive research regarding health behaviors and quality of life among cancer survivors.
