Emory Healthcare’s Physician Group Practices have received a 2018 Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Award from Vizient, Inc., ranking fourth in the nation among participating academic medical centers. Vizient is the largest member-driven, health care performance improvement company in the country. The award recognizes academic medical centers for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality, patient-centered, efficient and effective care in an outpatient setting.
The award was presented earlier this month during the 2018 Vizient Connections Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Emory's Physician Group Practices, comprised of Emory Clinic and Emory Specialty Associates, have over 150 individual practices throughout metro Atlanta and the state of Georgia.
The Vizient Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Study assessed data from participating academic medical centers to measure performance in five domains: access to care, capacity management and throughput, quality and efficiency, continuum of care, and equity. The composite scoring system also assessed patient-level data across several databases including the Vizient-AAMC Faculty Practice Solutions Center®.
“We are proud of the work our outpatient clinics and care teams have accomplished to create quality, patient-centered care settings for our many patients and their families,” says Penny Castellano, MD, associate director and chief medical officer for Emory Clinic and Emory Specialty Associates. “We are honored to receive this award, and we consider it a privilege to partner with our patients and families in ways that help foster excellence in the care we provide.”
