Emory Johns Creek Hospital (EJCH) and the City of Johns Creek will launch a 'Walk with a Doc' program at Newtown Park on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. The free monthly walking event encourages residents to exercise while connecting with physicians.

"We’re thrilled to partner with the City of Johns Creek to help educate the community about a variety of health topics while getting them moving at the same time," says Marilyn Margolis, CEO of EJCH. "The Walk with a Doc program gives participants a personalized opportunity to ask medical questions in a more casual setting," says Margolis.

Maria Piraner, MD, director of the Center for Breast Care at EJCH and assistant professor, Division of Breast Imaging, Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine will discuss breast cancer early detection, prevention, and tips to stay healthy. Piraner specializes in breast imaging, women’s imaging and sonography.

Walk with a Doc is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages and reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country.

Pre-registration for this event is not required. Walkers should gather near the Veteran’s Memorial at Newtown Park upon arrival.
