“There are ample opportunities to improve both quality and efficiency within hospital systems, but to affect the disruption we believe is necessary, we needed a partner that shares not only our passion for demand-driven, consumer-centric innovation but also our philosophy of empathy – and Emory Healthcare is that partner,” said Jeff Arnold, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Sharecare. “The Emory Healthcare Innovation Hub enables us to tap into Emory’s robust environment, ideally positioning us to identify and solve healthcare system challenges right at the source.”

“As the U.S. healthcare system shifts from fee-for-service to value-based care, it is critical that we not only understand the evolving needs of patients and providers but also address those needs in ways that maximize technology to both enable the best possible care and engage patients throughout the entire care journey,” said Scott D. Boden, M.D., vice president of business innovation for Emory Healthcare and chief medical/quality officer for Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital. “Our shared commitment to studying, creating and implementing digital health technologies will drive greater value to our patients in ways that will help them live their healthiest lives.”
As part of the strategic collaboration, Emory Healthcare becomes the lead research partner of Sharecare and joins the Sharecare Movement, the initiative launched by Sharecare and the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club in August 2017 to make Atlanta and Georgia among the healthiest places to live in the United States. According to the Gallup-Sharecare Wellbeing Index, Georgia falls below the national average for overall wellbeing, and dropped to 31 out of 50 states in 2017 versus 29 in 2016; while Atlanta ranked 81 out of 186 communities in the U.S. The Sharecare and Emory Healthcare partnership will accelerate the development of evidence-based digital health solutions targeted at improving the health of the state of Georgia, which will be tracked by the Gallup-Sharecare Wellbeing Index.
“Fostering a culture of wellness in Georgia isn’t just good for the health of our citizens, it’s also good for our state’s economy,” said Georgia Governor Nathan Deal. “Through the Sharecare Movement, Sharecare has demonstrated its commitment to rallying the right set of stakeholders to improve the health of our people, and their partnership with Emory Healthcare is another major step to that end. I look forward to seeing the world-class innovations that come out of the Emory Healthcare Innovation Hub and how it will both improve the healthcare experience for Georgians and strengthen our state’s already commanding position in health IT.”
“Emory Healthcare is excited to bring together the health-related assets of the Emory community to partner with Sharecare, innovation experts and other strategic partners to accelerate the development and adoption of healthcare technology solutions,” said Jonathan S. Lewin, M.D., president, CEO and chair of the board of Emory Healthcare. “It is critical to think globally with solutions we will develop, but also recognize the importance of and responsibility to act locally doing our part to help make Georgia healthier.”
