This year, 319 Emory physicians are included in the list, making up 51 percent of all of the "top doctors" recognized in the issue.

More than half of the physicians recognized in this year’s "Top Doctors" issue of Atlanta magazine are Emory Healthcare doctors, Emory Healthcare Network doctors or Emory University School of Medicine faculty. The July 2016 issue can be found on magazine stands throughout metro-Atlanta.

This year, 319 Emory physicians are included in the list, making up 51 percent of all of the doctors recognized in the issue. Patients can find these doctors at Emory Healthcare hospitals, throughout 200 provider locations, and within the Emory University School of Medicine.

"We are extremely proud of our physicians and deeply thankful for the outstanding care they provide to our patients and their families each and every day across Emory Healthcare, at Grady, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the Atlanta Veterans Hospital," says Christian Larsen, MD, DPhil, dean of Emory University School of Medicine and physician group president for Emory Healthcare. "Emory is committed to improving the health of the people and communities we serve. As our Emory Healthcare Network continues to expand, communities not only in metro-Atlanta, but throughout Georgia, have access to more of Emory’s ‘top doctors.’ This allows patients to find the very best physicians and the health care they need closer to their home."

Established in 2011, the Emory Healthcare Network is Emory’s clinically integrated network through which access to coordinated patient- and family-centered care is provided. Throughout its hospitals, 200 provider locations and 2,000 physicians in more than 70 specialties, including 220 primary care physicians, the Emory Healthcare Network is a one-stop-shop for all health care needs.

The network joins together Emory-employed and private practice physicians in communities throughout metro Atlanta and the state, in collaboration with Emory Healthcare, into a single comprehensive care management system.

To compile the annual "Top Doctors" list, Castle Connolly uses a survey and research process involving tens of thousands of top doctors across America and the medical leadership of leading hospitals. Atlanta's top doctors are selected after peer nomination, extensive research, careful review and screening by Castle Connolly's doctor-directed research team. Atlanta magazine uses the research by Castle Connolly to provide detailed information about education, training and special expertise of Atlanta doctors. Doctors do not and cannot pay to be selected and profiled as Castle Connolly "Top Doctors".
