Emory University Hospital Midtown has received the Vizient Excellence Award for Supply Chain Performance. The award, presented in April during the 2016 Vizient Connections Summit, recognizes Emory for superior supply chain management scoring above national performance standards.

Emory University Hospital Midtown ranked fourth in supply chain management among the 118 academic medical centers and their affiliated hospitals. This is the second year in a row that Emory University Hospital Midtown has won a supply chain excellence award. Last year, the hospital ranked third for its supply chain performance by the former UHC (University HealthSystem Consortium), one of the companies integrated into the Vizient, Inc., brand identity.

“Emory University Hospital Midtown is committed to continuous cost improvement in all areas of our supply chain, while providing high-quality services to and excellent outcomes for our patients,” says Daniel Owens, CEO of Emory University Hospital Midtown. “I am proud of our achievements and consistent efforts to blend sustainable cost measures with excellence in patient care. This effort would not be possible without our amazing team of contractors, nurses, physicians and staff.”

“Hospitals today are focused on making every aspect of their operations as cost effective as possible, while also delivering superior clinical outcomes and patient experiences,” says Barbara Anason, senior vice president, Academic Medical Center Networks and Strategy at Vizient, Inc. “As a result, supply chain leaders are using data and analytics to help them more effectively manage these items. We are pleased to recognize Emory University Hospital Midtown for its achievements and leadership in academic medicine.”

Vizient, Inc., the largest member-owned health care company in the country providing solutions and expertise that help hospitals lower costs and improve patient outcomes, represents the integration of VHA Inc., University HealthSystem Consortium, Novation and MedAssets’ Spend and Clinical Resource Management (SCM) segment, which includes Sg2. Its diverse membership and customer base includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute health care providers.

The Vizient Connections Clinical Summit, which focuses on clinical, quality and performance improvement, will be held in Sept. 2016.
