Nominate undergraduate or graduate students, staff, faculty or alumnae for the Emory Women of Excellence Awards. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 8.
The Emory Women of Excellence Awards celebrate women who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to issues that affect women at Emory or in the larger community. The awards are sponsored by the Center for Women at Emory.
Nominations are open to everyone in the Emory community, says Tiffany Del Valle, program coordinator, CWE.
Previously called the Unsung Heroines Awards, the program has expanded its award categories to include these:
- Program of the Year, honoring those who have developed a campus program or event to address the needs of women and/or improve gender equality on campus or in the greater Emory community
- Public or Digital Scholarship award
- Mentorship award
- Excellence in Teaching and Pedagogy award
- Distinguished Leadership award
- Alum of the Year award
- Unsung Heroine award
“We believe that these new categories speak to the outstanding diversity of women's leadership at Emory University,” Del Valle says.
Awards will be presented at a ceremony on March 17 at 6 p.m. at the Miller-Ward Alumni House.
“We will also have a performance from the all-women a capella group, The Gathering, as well as a ‘Year in Review’ presentation video,” at the ceremony, says Del Valle. This event is free and open to everyone, but reservations are appreciated.
